Langdown
Tony
Langdown is one of the UK’s most experienced independent
fire consultants. A Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers,
Tony established Alpha Fire Consultancy Limited in 1990
and the company now enjoys an excellent reputation for
providing a professional, reliable service. Since then,
numerous architects, property developers, companies, educational
establishments and other organisations have greatly benefited
from the Consultancy’s professional yet affordable
services.
Prior
to founding the company, Tony Langdown spent some 25 years
as a specialist fire safety officer with local authority
fire brigades, including 11 years as Deputy Senior Fire
Prevention Officer of the West Midlands Fire Service.
As
a visiting lecturer to the Fire Service College he gave
presentations on fire precautions in places of public entertainment
/ licensed premises.
From
1983 to 1994 Tony was appointed advisor to the Home Office
Fire Safety Division who were responsible for producing
the following guides:

Fire Precautions in Existing Places of Work that require
a Fire Certificate

In
1992 Tony was appointed Fire Consultant to the Cinema Exhibitors’ Association
and represents the Association on the British Standards
Institutions Committees for Emergency Lighting and Safety
Signs.
He
has played a key role in other important projects and was
a member of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) stakeholder
groups which produced fire safety guidance documents for
Theatres, Cinemas and similar premises and Large places
of assembly.
